Yahyn Sommelier: Mel Eitel

On International Women's Day, Yahyn would like to show our appreciation to a hard-working and ambitious sommelier, Mel Eitel. For Mel, being able to guide others to the best options for their personal preference in wine is incredibly rewarding. She has such a love for what she does and it shows. Cheers to you, Mel!

Mel grew up in Southwest Missouri, but her love for wine really took off when she moved to Canada. Yes, wine is produced in Canada! She got a taste for the Niagara region wines as her curiosity grew. How could a grape taste so different simply by where its grown?


Once she moved back to the U.S., Mel joined a group that held educational events to teach guests about wine and food pairings. Through that group, she was exposed to educational classes and teachings from Master Sommeliers. At that point, she was hooked!


To Mel, wine is not just a drink. It is a collection of chilled memories in time. By its smell and taste, wine can remind you of an exotic vacation, a best friend, or who you were back then. It can transport you to another part of the world or to a part of history that you could never be a part of.
